INGOLSTADT, Germany — The 2008 Audi A5 will get two "striking S line packages" from the home office, the automaker said on Wednesday, noting that the up-level package will be available in the U.S. upon the launch of the car. For the time being, though, Audi says it is only releasing information on Europe-spec A5 coupes and that the information is "subject to change for U.S.-spec cars."
The S line sport package adds a sport suspension with ride height lowered by 10 millimeters (0.4 inch). Wheel choices include 18-inch alloy wheels with a five-spoke design or 19-inch alloy wheels with a 20-spoke design. A 20-inch wheel of seven-twin-spoke design will make its debut in the middle of the year.
Exterior design cues include distinctive front and rear bumpers and side ventilation grilles at the front. The diffuser insert at the rear and the central bar on the lower side of the front bumper are in contrasting platinum gray.
The cabin gets a black interior with silver stitching and sport seats in a cloth/leather combination or in "fine nappa" leather with an embossed S line logo. Other details include a three-spoke leather-covered sport steering wheel, inlays in matte-brushed aluminum, and the S line logo on the door sill trim and front fenders.
Prices have not yet been announced.
