Nissan and Yahoo Japan today jointly announced the start of a new service that allows drivers to access Yahoo! Gourmet online via the Nissan CARWINGS navigation system in Japan. The collaboration is the first time Yahoo Japan’s internet services has been made available on-board a vehicle. Nissan CARWINGS users become the first in Japan to receive navigation assistance to find restaurants and complete information including images, reviews by otherdiners, and barcode coupons through Yahoo! Gourmet.
Since October 2006, Nissan has been offering an expanded range of services through its CARWINGS system, the world's first advanced integrated internet navigation service, designed to combine the adventure of discovery with timely and relevant information. By providing on-board Internet access, Yahoo Japan has been actively expanding its Yahoo Everywhere coverage to cellular phones, television and other media channels.
Nissan and Yahoo Japan are both able to enhance their services to customers by collaborating to bring wider Yahoo online access to drivers and passengers in their vehicles. Nissan has improved its internet navigation service to allow hi-quality delivery of images from Yahoo! Gourmet even including barcode coupons for restaurants.
New CARWINGS service
While the previous CARWINGS system had provided drivers with restaurant and dining information edited by its content providers, the new collaboration with Yahoo Japan brings greater added-value such as personal recommendations from Yahoo! Gourmet readers.
Nissan CARWINGS provides three new information channels for customers to search for their favorite restaurants.
