Infiniti just released a sketch of what the 2008 G Coupe will resemble. Whether it will still be called the G35 or not is unsure, but given the rumored 3.7 liter V-6 that the car will most likely be powered by, I’m thinking more along the lines of G37. From the sketches, it seems Infiniti wants the new coupe to look like a mix between the beautiful Coupe Concept, and the current G35 sedan. Take a look at the sketch next to the Coupe Concept picture, and continue reading for more information:
I know it’s a drawing next to a picture, but you can use your imagination You’ll notice a few differences between the two, most noticeably the front bumper. You can see that they scratched the two wide, sleek air intakes in favor of a larger intake in the center, with two smaller intakes on each side. There are a few other changes as well, and to be honest, I’m rather disappointed. When I saw the Coupe Concept at the 2006 Chicago Auto Show, I fell in love with it and didn’t want them to change anything; it was perfect. Of course now they have to change things around and try to make it look more like the sedan. It’s not that the sedan is ugly, it’s a great looking sedan. I’m tired of coupes with exceptional potential being clones of their sedan counterpart, with two less doors.
Infiniti, if you are reading this, please PLEASE do not change the Coupe Concept. I will buy the car I saw at the Auto Show, but if it starts getting transformed into the sedan with less doors, I’ll have to pass.
