WR Trivia: What Bones Lurk Underneath This Vitesse Cabrio?

Never seen one before? Neither have we. This is the Vitesse Cabrio, a kit car made by Gulf Coast Motors. So… what’s underneath?

You’ll have to click through to the jump to find out…

Yep. It’s based on Honda’s humble 1988-1991 Civic Hatchback. If you’re guessing that Vitesse Cabrio intenders have a lot of work ahead of them, we are too. Perhaps those scared off by the necessary beheading would appreciate the Coupe version more, which is based on a CRX of the same vintage–and looks quite a bit more attractive to boot (that upright windshield header does the droptop Vitesse no favors).

Pricing? Cabrio-minded buyers should expect to shell out $4500 for the basic kit (front clip, rear clip, hood, trunk lid, door skins, side skirts, and emblem), and cabrio, but completists will want the Deluxe kit, that adds the convertible top, fasteners and framing, and all applicable lighting fixtures.

Coupe buyers have it somewhat easier, paying $3500 for the necessary bodywork, and $400 for a lighting package.
