Nissan’s new Qashqai crossover SUV is launching everywhere else in the world (there’s no plan at this point to bring to the States) and with it, a new advertising campaign from the geniuses at TBWA in London (TBWA Chiat Day runs the Nissan/Infiniti accounts in the U.S.). The TV spot, featured here in a YouTube clip, shows the car “skateboarding” through urban traffic. The skateboarder in us loves the kick flip (invented by Rodney Mullen in the 1980s, who we wanted to be so badly during our skinned-knee days), and the car enthusiast in us loves the accurate look and feel of the suspension movements. The car actually looks like it’s jouncing and rebounding from a giant skateboarder’s weight. How did they do that? Millions of dollars of CGI is the likely answer.
