TORRANCE, Calif. — Lexus has announced that its new 2008 GS 460 will start at $53,385, including a $765 destination charge. That price is $245 more than the outgoing 2007 GS 430, which the new model replaces.
The 2008 Lexus GS 460 gets a boost of 52 horsepower over the previous model. It is equipped with a 4.6-liter V8 that makes 342 hp and 339 pound-feet of torque, which is 20 lb-ft more than the outgoing model, mated to what Lexus describes as the segment's first eight-speed automatic transmission. The engine first appeared in the automaker's LS 460 flagship.
The 2008 GS 460 also gets semi-aniline leather trim in the cabin and ventilated front seats as standard items.
Toyota's upscale brand said its base 2008 Lexus GS 350 will start at $44,915, including shipping. The 2008 GS 450h hybrid starts at $55,565. Those prices are the same as the 2007 models.
What this means to you: The extra 52 horses in the new 2008 Lexus GS 460 will cost you $245, which is not a bad deal at all.
